What is the toughest schedule to follow in preparation for the GATE?

My story goes like this, I have a procrastinating attitude so I used to prepare at the last day of exam for semester, but some how I have got enough knowledge of my field that is Metallurgical and Materials engineering. I am from NIT Durgapur so I have got good faculties in my college and I have attended decent number of classes. Than my final year starts and I started targeting different exams like CAT, GMAT, GRE apart from GATE. I have joined TIME and prepared for CAT and given almost every test series. I scored decent percentile in mock test and thought of targeting 99+ percentile in CAT. I have also given other management exams like IIFT, NMMIs and XAT. All management exams were conducted in December. except XAT which was conducted in January 8. After giving exams I got disappointed. I am not placed till December. My CAT exam was not upto my expectations. I secured 89 percentile in CAT, just cleared NMMIs mumbai cutoff and not able to clear the cutoff of XAT and IIFT. In the December end I got placed in VISA steel on campus from my college. Now after January 8, I thought of targeting GATE exam. I was pretty confident in my field and the concepts which I acquired in the past 4 years. I started studying sincerely for GATE exam as no other opportunity left for me so I studied around 6–7 hours per day and studied almost each and every concept.I find it easy as I am truly interested in it. I need not to prepare for Aptitude part as it is already covered. I just studied the Technical part. Many of my friends started giving up on gate and stop studying in the end. I have a do or die situation so I studied despite many disappointments. Now comes the Gate exam day I have no fear of loosing anything. Just I needed to give my best. On the exam day I realized that it is a lengthy paper and I need to maintain both my speed and accuracy. Many numerical were their so I must say that your Maths must be good for that. After giving exam I was relaxed I knew that I will be in top 100. Although after seeing the answer key I realized that I did many silly mistakes and I could have scored more. Than comes the result day and I secured AIR 29. Conclusion. You may feel that many exams which I targeted went in vain but it actually helped me in my future exam. Due to my preparation for Cat my aptitude is strong and I scored full in aptitude section in GATE. I got familiar with exam environment and not getting nervous. So someone truly said that Efforts Never Fail. The only thing you need to trust is on yourself. Advice . If you are in college now than I must say that attend the lectures as much as possible because it will help you a lot in the D-day and please don't ever underestimate your teachers. The knowledge of subjects which you acquire gradually from time is far more worthy than studying everything on a single day. Try to clear the Gate exam in your very first attempt because it's never too late. Don't give up. Good luck!!!
